Merge Records was started in the summer of 1989 by Laura Ballance & Mac McCaughan, the same summer they formed the band Superchunk in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The 7-inch was the format of choice during the first three years of the label, with cash borrowed from friends to finance projects (including singles from Erectus Monotone, Angels of Epistemology, and more Superchunk). About The Farm

Blue Skies of Mapleview is a limited liability corporation that shelters a small family farm with an emphasis on natural horsemanship. We offer a weekday morning opportunity for adult women to re-connect with riding or begin a new relationship with horses. The farm offers a variety of services, including boarding, training and instruction as well as consultation. In the summer we host day camp for beginning to intermediate riders. During the academic year we offer after school riding lessons and therapueutic riding sessions. Our fifteen open acres are in a lovely setting of rolling pastures. We have two riding rings and access to trails both in the woods and up to Maple View Farm Dairy. Our horses and ponies are quiet, experienced members of our farm family.

The Frame & Print Shop at University Place has been the Triangle's destination for custom framing, art restoration, dry mounting and a place to find unique local art and UNC prints for 50 years. Schoolkids Records was founded in 1974 in Raleigh, NC. We had a store on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill from 1974-2008. That store closed and on March 1st, 2016 we bought CD Alley (as Ryan was going back to school and closing the store) and re-opened! Happy to be back in Chapel Hill!
